Education issues affecting Belarusians were discussed in the Lithuanian Seimas, the Parliamentary Channel reported. Adviser to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya Anatol Liabedzka met with the Chair of the Education Committee Jurgita Šukevičienė.
According to Liabedzka, an agreement was reached that Šukevičienė will take part in a meeting of the European Dialogue Club, where the situation with the education of Belarusian children in Lithuania will be discussed.
The committee was also provided with a document of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe containing recommendations on addressing problems faced by Belarusians abroad, as well as materials from a study conducted among Belarusian-speaking parents in Vilnius.
Earlier, Reform.news reported concerns among Belarusians living in the Lithuanian capital that changes in school education being prepared by the Vilnius city authorities could lead to the closure of the only Belarusian-language Francysk Skaryna Gymnasium.
