The Belarusian culture festival Varušniak Ščodryk, which was scheduled to take place this coming weekend in Krakow, has been canceled. The organizers announced this on social media.

“Unfortunately, due to organizational and technical reasons beyond our control, we are forced to cancel the planned Christmas Varušniak,” the festival team said.

The Varušniak initiative is a community of cultural figures from the Belarusian diaspora in Warsaw, including promoters, artists, painters, designers, and PR specialists. For several years now, the community has been organizing the Varušniak music festival of contemporary Belarusian culture around Belarusian holidays — Kupalle, Bahach, Kaliady, Ščodryk, and Maslenitsa. Last year, the event in Warsaw took place only for Kupalle. This year, the festival team has announced another edition, also planned for the day of the summer solstice.

“Thank you for your understanding, support, and trust!” the organizers said, expressing hope for a future meeting.
