The human rights initiative Dissidentby has reported confirmed cases in which people awaiting decisions on international protection in Poland were convicted in Belarus on politically motivated criminal charges after being deported. According to human rights defenders, individuals deported in 2026 were convicted in cases that had been opened as far back as 2022.

The initiative had previously reported cases involving the deportation of people who were awaiting decisions on international protection.

Dissidentby is urging Belarusians who face persecution in Belarus to seek assistance from organizations that provide support on migration and protection issues, carefully monitor all decisions made by state authorities and retain all relevant documents. According to the human rights group, the sooner a person learns about a decision, the more time they have to appeal it, while missing an appeal deadline may eliminate any chance of correcting the situation.
