Seven calves died in a fire in the Valozhyn District, the Emergencies Ministry reported.
The incident occurred during the day on Sunday at a farm near the agrotown of Vishnevo in the Valozhyn District. A wooden shelter used for keeping calves caught fire.
“Farm workers evacuated 72 cows from the cowshed and 32 calves from under the shelter. As a result of the fire, seven calves (up to one month old) died, bedding over an area of 75 square meters was destroyed, and 20 square meters of the slate roof of the shelter were damaged,” the Emergencies Ministry said.
The cause of the fire is being established.
