The Investigative Committee has reported the dismantling of a channel used to legalize migrants. A court has already issued a verdict: a 29-year-old foreign national was sentenced to three years in a general-regime correctional colony. Another suspect is wanted after leaving Belarus.

According to the Committee, the 29-year-old man arrived in Minsk in December 2023 intending to enroll at a university. However, on the advice of friends, he abandoned the idea and began working as a taxi driver.

“At the same time, he met the director of one of the capital’s companies, who offered to engage in arranging employment for migrants. After losing his main income due to the blocking of a taxi app, the man took up the offer and began posting advertisements online,” the Investigative Committee said.

In the autumn of last year, he received a request to process documents for 12 people.

“Since the organization had no available vacancies, he approached a 34-year-old owner of a construction firm who, under the guise of legal business, handled fictitious employment for foreign nationals. The entrepreneur agreed and prepared the necessary documents, but the plan failed — inaccuracies were discovered in the paperwork,” the Committee added.

Despite this failure, the men continued their cooperation. They posted online advertisements and prepared documents for submission to citizenship and migration offices.

“They submitted forged documents to competent state bodies: applications for issuing visas, employment contracts, and employer notifications, thereby facilitating illegal entry and stay of foreign citizens in the country. One of the suspects left Belarus but continued preparing documents remotely,” the report stated.

The Committee also said the accused ensured illegal entry and stay for twenty foreign nationals, while the scheme generated more than 7,000 rubles in profit.
