Belarusian Energy System Sets New Records Amid Severe Frosts

Belarus’ energy system has set new records amid severe frosts, the Ministry of Energy reported.

“According to operational data, during the period of severe frosts a new maximum of instantaneous peak load was recorded — 7,325 MW. This is the highest figure in our entire history,” the ministry said.

The previous record, set in February 2025, was exceeded by 604 MW.

A record for daily electricity consumption was also updated, reaching 153.6 million kWh, which is 9.1 million kWh higher than the previous record.

“One of the key factors behind the growth in load is a sharp drop in air temperature, an increase in heat energy supply, and active electricity consumption by the population,” the ministry noted.
