A regular round of Belarusian-Russian inter-ministerial consultations on current issues of pan-European security was held in Moscow on June 1 at the level of deputy foreign ministers.

The Belarusian side was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Ihar Sakreta, while the Russian side was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko.

“The parties discussed the destructive activities of NATO, the European Union and the Council of Europe, and examined in detail the crisis situation within the OSCE. They reaffirmed their readiness to continue close cooperation and coordination in promoting common priorities on the Vienna platform,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry used more neutral language in describing the meeting.

“During the consultations, the parties held a substantive exchange of views on promising areas of joint work within the OSCE, as well as on the current state of affairs and the coordination of actions regarding the EU, NATO and the Council of Europe,” the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
