Belarus plans to build five additional border outpost complexes on its border with Ukraine in 2026, Deputy Chairman of the State Border Committee Colonel Maksim Butranets said at an expanded meeting of the agency’s board held in Minsk on Wednesday.
According to him, the priority remains the continued strengthening of the deployment system of forces and assets of the border service bodies. As part of this work, five more border outpost complexes are planned to be built on the border with Ukraine.
On the Ukrainian direction, two new border outposts were formed in 2025 in areas covered by the Mazyr Border Detachment and the Brest Border Group. Staffing levels were also increased in a number of other border units on the southern direction.
The agency intends to continue implementing the programs “Border Security for 2026–2030” and “Development of Border Security of the Union State” for the 2023–2027 period.
Special attention is planned to be given to improving combat training of personnel, the mobilization reserve and field skills, as well as ensuring readiness to suppress armed and other provocations at the border.
Work will also continue to improve living and social conditions for border guards and their families, including housing provision.
Deputy Chairman of the State Border Committee Andrei Filatau said that in 2025, “in order to ensure territorial integrity,” Belarus carried out riverbank reinforcement works on the Western Bug River near the Brest border outpost as part of tasks defined by the “Development of Border Security of the Union State” program. A similar construction project is planned to be included on the water section of responsibility of the Damachava border outpost.
According to the State Border Committee, more than 2,300 border violators were detained along the “green” border in 2025, and in 208 cases goods and material assets worth more than one million roubles were seized.
