Belarus and Tanzania have established a joint committee on trade and cooperation. The corresponding intergovernmental agreement was signed during a visit to the African country by Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou.

As reported by the Foreign Ministry, on Wednesday Ryzhankou met with Minister of State for Planning and Investment in the Office of the President of Tanzania Kitila Alexander Mkumbo.

The parties discussed the development of economic cooperation, with particular emphasis on implementing projects in agricultural mechanisation, food security, and the supply of Belarusian-made firefighting equipment and machinery.

Ryzhankou said Belarus views Tanzania as a strategic partner and as a platform for exporting Belarusian and jointly produced goods to markets in East and Southern Africa.

Agreements were reached to expand the legal framework for mutual investment promotion, customs cooperation and visa facilitation, as well as on a visit by a Tanzanian delegation to Belagro-2026.

In addition, Maksim Ryzhankou visited the Benjamin Mkapa Special Economic Zone and the port of Dar es Salaam.

“The parties discussed prospects for using Tanzania’s special economic zones to host joint production facilities, including those oriented towards exports to third countries”, the ministry said.

The talks also covered the supply of Belarusian goods through Tanzanian ports, including the transshipment of Belarusian fertilisers and the organisation of production of blended fertilisers.
