Belarus and North Korea are prepared to expand cooperation in the area of food security. Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Shuleika held talks today with a North Korean delegation led by Foreign Economic Relations Minister Yun Jong Ho. The North Korean officials arrived in Belarus to attend the Belagro 2026 exhibition.
According to the Belarusian government’s press service, the parties reviewed the implementation of agreements reached during Aliaksandr Lukashenka’s visit to Pyongyang.
“The parties confirmed their readiness to work on expanding both the volume and scope of bilateral cooperation in the field of food security, healthcare and other areas of cooperation,” the statement said.
Shuleika stressed that Belarus remains open to North Korean initiatives, which are considered and implemented based on the actual capabilities and international obligations of the two countries. He added that visiting Belagro 2026 would allow the guests to gain a fuller understanding of Belarus’s economic potential.
The delegations also expressed their readiness to accelerate preparations for the fourth meeting of the Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
