The second meeting of the Technical Expert Group took place in the Minsk Region as part of an international assistance project aimed at strengthening the capacity of the State Border Committee of Belarus in the event of a possible increase in migrant arrivals at the border. The project is being implemented by the International Organization for Migration.

Representatives of the State Border Committee, the Interior Ministry, the Emergencies Ministry, the Health Ministry and the IOM office in Belarus took part in the two-day meeting. Participants discussed the results of an analytical review of Belarusian legislation and practical mechanisms for responding to a rise in the number of arriving migrants, and also began drafting an interagency regulatory document intended to coordinate the actions of different agencies in such situations.

Particular attention was given to interagency risk analysis, early warning systems, coordination mechanisms and methods of working with migrants with special needs, the press service of the State Border Committee reported.
