Former political prisoner Andrzej Poczobut (Andrei Pachobut), who was released and handed over to Poland as part of an exchange, may return to Belarus, Anzhalika Borys, a former political prisoner and activist of the Union of Poles, said.

“Andrzej Poczobut has no restrictions; he can return to Belarus — Andrzej and I heard such an assurance today in Białowieża,” Borys wrote on Facebook.

As a reminder, on April 28, an exchange under the 5-for-5 formula took place at the Pierarou–Białowieża checkpoint on the Belarusian-Polish border. Three Poles and two Moldovans were released by Belarus and Russia. It is known that Belarus handed over journalist Andrzej Poczobut and Carmelite monk Grzegorz Gaweł to Poland. Russia extradited two Moldovan intelligence officers to Moldova.

Poland handed over archaeologist Aleksandr Butyagin to Russia. Moldova handed over Moldovan citizen Alexandru Balan to Belarus and Russian citizen Nina Popova to Russia.
