Belarus’ Interior Ministry has added nine more people to the “List of Citizens of the Republic of Belarus, Foreign Citizens or Stateless Persons Involved in Extremist Activity”.
As noted by the Viasna Human Rights Centre, those added include political prisoner and defendant in the “Hajun case” Ivan Falitar, as well as Dzmitry Spruc, who was convicted of “inciting hatred” but released from criminal liability “due to being found legally insane”.
The list now contains 6,214 names.
Belarusian authorities regularly use extremism charges to combat political opponents and dissent in general.
