Lithuanian border guards discovered 30 packages of cigarettes worth €16,530 on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border.
On June 7, border guards from the Padvarionys border station noticed unidentified bundles being thrown over the border fence near the village of Juškai in the Šalčininkai district. A patrol was dispatched to the scene.
In a forest about 30 meters from the border, officers found 25 bundles wrapped in polyethylene film and later discovered another five. The packages contained 3,000 packs of NZ Gold cigarettes bearing Belarusian excise stamps. The total value of the cigarettes was estimated at €16,530.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched.
