The Ministry of Finance has terminated the licence of the Closed Joint-Stock Insurance Company Kentavr to conduct insurance activities.
“The decision was made due to the expiry of the period allotted for the insurer to comply with the regulator’s requirement to form the minimum authorised fund in the amount established by the legislation of the Republic of Belarus,” the Finance Ministry press service reported.
From the moment the licence is terminated, the company must transfer its obligations under previously concluded insurance contracts to another insurance organisation or terminate the contracts (except in cases where obligations to make insurance payments arise) and return to policyholders the portion of the premium proportional to the remaining insurance period. The company must also make all insurance payments arising before the termination of the contracts.
The obligations accepted by Kentavr under insurance contracts will be transferred to Belgosstrakh.
In July 2025, the Finance Ministry suspended the company’s licence for six months, until 9 January 2026.
Kentavr is one of the oldest insurance companies in Belarus, founded in 1991. In 2020, the company’s accounts were temporarily blocked by the Financial Investigations Department in connection with the Belgazprombank case.
