Zelenskyy Advises Foreign Representatives Not To Travel To Moscow For Parade

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the results of Ukraine’s long-range strikes on Russian targets. In particular, a missile ship capable of launching Kalibr missiles was hit in the Caspian region.

In addition, a strike was carried out on an oil facility in Russia’s Perm region — more than 1,500 kilometres from the Ukrainian border. According to Zelenskyy, intelligence assesses the results of strikes in the Bryansk region, in Tuapse and at a number of specialised oil facilities in Russia as satisfactory.

Zelenskyy also commented on the ceasefire situation. He recalled that Ukraine had proposed a ceasefire starting May 6 and was ready to ensure full silence, but this was followed by new Russian strikes and threats.

“They want to obtain Ukraine’s permission to hold their parade — to safely come out to the square for an hour once a year, and then return to killing our people and waging war. The Russians are already talking about strikes after May 9. This is a strange and clearly perverse logic of the Russian leadership. There are also reports from some states close to Russia that their representatives intend to be in Moscow. It is a strange desire at such a time. We do not recommend this,” the Ukrainian leader said.

Earlier, Russia’s Defence Ministry unilaterally declared a ceasefire for May 8–9 and warned of a strike on Kyiv in case of disruption to the May 9 celebrations. Ukraine announced a ceasefire starting May 6 and said it would respond in kind. Today, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia has been violating Ukraine’s declared ceasefire for a second consecutive day, pledging a mirror response.

Aliaksandr Lukashenka will travel to Moscow at the end of the week. He will attend the May 9 parade.
