Belarusian crypto banks will operate with 26 cryptocurrencies, First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Aliaksandr Yahorau said on Thursday.
“As for currencies, around 26 have been identified. The most popular are Bitcoin, Ether (Ethereum), TON (Toncoin), SOL (Solana). They are included in the list of cryptocurrencies that can be used. Stablecoins are included. Accordingly, for now we see these 26 currencies”, he said, BelTA reported.
Notably, two weeks ago Yahorau spoke of “around 25 types of cryptocurrencies” that would be permitted for crypto banks. He mentioned “both stablecoins and classic bitcoin, ether”.
He also said on Thursday that crypto banks would be allowed to conduct 11 types of operations. These include crypto deposits, crypto loans, crypto-backed collateral, staking operations, transfers of cryptocurrency between individuals and legal entities, the ability for crypto banks to issue their own tokens, exchange and storage of cryptocurrencies, among others. According to him, the list of operations has not yet been finalised.
