The hacker group Cyber Partisans claims it has established the whereabouts of Anzhalika Melnikava. According to the group, she is currently living in Minsk with her daughters.
Anzhalika Melnikava, the former speaker of the Coordination Council, disappeared in March 2025. Cyber Partisans said it had reconstructed the timeline of events beginning in 2020.
In August, Anzhalika Melnikava and her husband Andrei Melnikau took part in protests. Anzhalika was twice tried under Article 23.34 of the administrative code. Andrei was tried once under the same article.
On September 3, the family moved to Kyiv with their children, and in 2021 relocated to Białystok, Poland. They said they had left Belarus because of political persecution. Despite this, Andrei continued travelling to Belarus every few months. Anzhalika was last in Belarus on January 14, 2022.
In 2022, the Melnikavs’ marriage broke down, but they later resumed living together to raise their children. According to Cyber Partisans, both spouses had separate personal relationships.
As previously reported, Anzhalika was in contact with KGB counterintelligence officer Aliaksei Labeyeu, who allegedly used a cover passport in the name of Aliaksei Hardzeyeu. There is information about several trips taken by Melnikava to the same destinations at the same time as Labeyeu.
Until the end of January 2025, Melnikava continued to fulfil her responsibilities for the Białoruś Liberty foundation. In February, transfers began to be made from the foundation’s account for unknown purposes. Melnikava transferred several amounts of up to $2,500 to her personal account. In the description of one of the transfers, she stated that the funds were allegedly intended for the Coordination Council.
Melnikava was last seen at work on February 24, 2025.
Two days later, she left Poland with her daughters and flew to the United Kingdom.
On February 28, she travelled from the United Kingdom to Sri Lanka. On the same day, Labeyeu arrived in Sri Lanka accompanied by a colleague identified as “Mikalai”. Both allegedly travelled using cover passports.
On March 2, Andrei Melnikau urgently sold his Mercedes-Benz E300. On March 3, he removed all possible belongings from the family’s apartment in Warsaw and left for Belarus. Cyber Partisans believes the departure had not been planned and that Andrei acted in haste, “but with the understanding that his stay in Belarus would be required for a long time.”
On March 5, Anzhalika informed colleagues that she was ill. She withdrew almost all the money from the Białoruś Liberty foundation’s account.
On March 6-7, Melnikava’s Google account was accessed from an unusual IP address. Coordination Council documents, including reports, interview texts, briefing materials, official appeals and strategic plans, were downloaded.
On March 7, the KGB officer identified as “Mikalai”, who had accompanied Labeyeu, left Sri Lanka alone and returned to Belarus. Melnikava flew to Dubai the same day, reportedly together with Labeyeu.
On March 12, Melnikava’s Google account was again accessed from an unusual IP address to download documents. A grant intended for the Coordination Council was transferred to the Białoruś Liberty foundation’s account.
On March 18, Melnikava again withdrew almost all available funds from the foundation’s account.
Melnikava remained in periodic contact with colleagues. She stopped communicating on March 25.
The whereabouts of Melnikava’s daughters became unknown from the end of February. On March 31, journalists learned that the children were in Nesvizh with their father. On April 7, Andrei confirmed this to journalists, adding that he did not know where Anzhalika was.
Andrei Melnikau remained in Belarus until July 5, 2025. From there he flew to Dubai, where he lived alone for almost three months before returning to Poland permanently. He continues to travel regularly to Belarus. Cyber Partisans said it attempted to speak with him, but he declined to comment and ended the call.
In March 2026, photos of a woman resembling Melnikava, reportedly taken at a gym in Minsk, appeared online. Anzhalika’s father told journalists by telephone that she had “been in Belarus for quite some time.”
In September 2025 and January 2026, two apartments in Minsk were purchased in Melnikava’s name, one on Liubimau Avenue and the other on Mstsislaŭtsa Street in the Mayak Minska residential complex.
According to Cyber Partisans, in May 2025 the apartment in the Mayak Minska complex was initially registered to a person using forged documents issued in the name of Anhelina Radzivonava. It was then reportedly sold in August 2025, most likely to KGB counterintelligence officer Aliaksei Labeyeu using forged documents in the name of Chalaeu Aliaksei Vitalievich. It was subsequently registered under Anzhalika Melnikava’s genuine passport.
According to Cyber Partisans, Anzhalika Melnikava is currently living with her children in the apartment on Mstsislaŭtsa Street in Minsk.
“We continued working in this area of the investigation and, thanks to new sources of information, confirmed that the above-mentioned property does indeed belong to Anzhalika Melnikava. We also obtained evidence that Melnikava is currently in Minsk with her two daughters and lives at 24 Petra Mstsislaŭtsa Street. In addition, the passport issued in the name of RADZIVONAVA ANHELINA ALIAKSEEUNA, born on 1990-02-02, belongs to her. Melnikava periodically uses this document to conceal her identity.
We have therefore established that Melnikava is alive and resides permanently in Minsk. The existence of a cover passport suggests that, regardless of her motives, she agreed to cooperate with the KGB,” Cyber Partisans said.
