World Taekwondo has allowed Russian and Belarusian junior and senior athletes to compete in international competitions under their national flags. The decision was taken on January 31 at the first meeting of the new convocation of the World Taekwondo Council, held in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.

According to the organization, the decision takes effect immediately and follows the position of the International Olympic Committee, which had earlier allowed young athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar under national symbols.

At the same time, existing restrictions remain in place: international sporting events may still not be held on the territory of Russia, and government officials from Russia and Belarus will not be granted accreditation.
