Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with the team working on the creation of the Belarusian Research University named after Astafey Valovich in Poland. The project is currently at the stage of preparation for registration.
“Many Belarusian scholars are forced to continue their work outside the country, but they remain part of the Belarusian academic community. Therefore, the creation of new independent educational and research institutions is a very important step. Such projects help preserve and develop Belarusian science, even in exile,” Tsikhanouskaya said, according to her Office.
During the meeting the participants discussed the challenges facing the project and the possibilities of supporting new educational initiatives. Particular attention was paid to the formation of the academic team, the timeline for the university’s official registration and plans for launching its work. The participants also discussed the role of the new institution in the Belarusian academic space and its potential support for democratic institutions and initiatives.
Among those attending the meeting were Pavel Barkouski, Kurt Woolhiser, Andrei Vardamatsky, Dzmitry Nikanovich, Aliaksei Lastouski and others.
