A red weather warning has been issued for Belarus on Saturday, August 1, due to extreme heat. According to forecasters, daytime temperatures in many areas of the Brest and Homiel regions will reach +35°C to +37°C.
Across the rest of the country, temperatures are expected to range from +30°C to +34°C. In Minsk, the temperature is forecast to reach +30°C to +32°C.
Thunderstorms are expected in the northwestern part of Belarus during the day. Heavy downpours, hail and squally winds with gusts of 15-20 metres per second are possible in some areas, with isolated gusts reaching up to 24 metres per second.
Weather conditions across most of Belarus will be determined by a high-pressure system accompanied by a very warm air mass. In the northwest, an atmospheric front will influence the weather.
Variable cloud cover is expected. Patchy light fog is possible overnight and in the morning. Atmospheric pressure is expected to remain largely unchanged overnight before falling slightly during the day.
