Belarus has no problems in its cooperation with Russia in the gas sector but would like to secure longer-term arrangements, Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Yury Seliverstau said in an interview with TASS while commenting on last week’s talks with Gazprom chief Alexey Miller.
“You know, there are no problems in gas cooperation. We are currently working quite normally. Yes, we would like to define our interaction over a longer-term period,” he said.
According to Seliverstau, the agenda of the meeting, which was also attended by Belarusian Energy Minister Dzianis Maroz, extended far beyond gas-related issues.
“Of course, we touched on this topic briefly, but if we do not focus solely on the gas agenda, we have a whole range of other joint issues. Gazprom owns an enterprise in Belarus, Brest Region, called Brestgazoapparat. How will it develop? What will it do?
In addition to gas, we purchase sulphur and other components from Gazprom enterprises. They buy our gas cylinders installed in vehicles, as well as components and spare parts for repairs. The agenda is quite broad and is not limited to the gas issue alone,” he added.
