Vladimir Putin has announced a ceasefire in connection with the Easter holiday. It will come into force on April 11 at 16:00 and will last until the end of April 12, 2026.
According to the decision, Defence Minister Andrei Belousov and Chief of the General Staff, Army General Valery Gerasimov, have been instructed to halt combat operations in all directions.
“Troops must be ready to repel possible provocations by the enemy, as well as any of its aggressive actions. We proceed from the assumption that the Ukrainian side will follow the example of the Russian Federation,” the document states.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine was ready for a ceasefire during Easter, as well as for a so-called energy ceasefire.
“We are ready for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays. In my view, honestly, normal people who respect life speak about a ceasefire and ending the war for a lifetime, not for a few days. But, of course, we are ready for any compromises except those that affect our dignity and sovereignty,” he stressed.
