The head of the Viasna Human Rights Centre and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski met with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.
Among other topics, the meeting focused on the work of the Viasna Human Rights Centre. Sikorski welcomed the registration in Poland of the Ales Bialiatski Foundation, whose mission is to protect and promote human rights, and thanked the Belarusian human rights defender for participating in the Kościuszko Forum in Gdańsk, the Polish Foreign Ministry reported.
“In Poland, we admire your resilience and modesty, and above all we are deeply grateful for your steadfast commitment to the struggle for human rights. We greatly appreciate your independence and your focus on protecting civil liberties,” Sikorski said.
