A 38-year-old resident of Minsk has been detained on suspicion of stealing money from the woman he planned to marry. The couple had lived together for about a year, and recently the woman began noticing that her savings were disappearing.

A total of $1,000 and 400 Belarusian rubles disappeared from the apartment, while more than 7,500 rubles were withdrawn from her bank card. Since the woman trusted the man and had shared all her internet banking passwords with him, suspicion immediately fell on him. When she directly asked him about the missing money, he denied everything and disappeared.

It turned out that he had hidden in a field and was preparing to leave the country. After the victim contacted police, officers from Minsk’s Zavodski district police department detained him there.

During questioning, the man admitted that he had lost his fiancée’s savings in a casino and said he felt ashamed. A criminal case has been opened, the Minsk city police department reported.
