Meteorologists Declare Orange Alert for December 29–30

Meteorologists have declared an orange level of danger for December 29–30. Icy conditions and strong winds are expected.

“Today, December 29 (Monday), from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., icy conditions are expected on roads across the country and in Minsk, which will persist throughout December 30 (Tuesday). During the day on December 30 (Tuesday), strengthening northwesterly and westerly winds with gusts of 15–20 m/s are expected in the western part of the country,” the statement said.

Earlier, a yellow level of danger had been declared for today.

Tomorrow, weather conditions will be determined by atmospheric fronts moving in from northern Europe. Cloudy with clear spells. Snow and wet snow are expected across most of the country. During the day, light drifting snow is forecast in some areas. Minimum nighttime air temperatures will range from minus 3 to minus 9 degrees Celsius, with maximum daytime temperatures of minus 1 to minus 7 degrees.

According to a three-day forecast, New Year’s night will be frosty. On January 1, minimum nighttime temperatures will range from minus 9 to minus 16 degrees Celsius, while maximum daytime temperatures will range from minus 2 degrees in the west to minus 11 degrees in the east of the country.
