Aliaksandr Lukashenka attended the opening ceremony of the Call of Palessie festival of ethnocultural traditions on Aug. 15 and visited a hunter and fisherman’s house. During the visit, he shared a story about fishing on the Prypyats River. According to him, it took about an hour to land the large fish.
“I once went catfishing here. I caught a 54-kilogram catfish. I spent a whole hour landing it. We pulled it out with a gaff, put it in the boat, and it looked at me with sad eyes. After that, I stopped fishing for catfish — those eyes stayed with me. I felt sorry for the big fish,” his press service quotes him as saying.
