Construction of roads and bridges is planned to be a priority in Belarusian Palessie. Aliaksandr Lukashenka said this on Aug. 15 at the opening ceremony of the Call of Palessie festival, his press service reports.
“We will build what is most important for you — roads and bridges. Nothing can be done without them,” he said.
According to him, development programs are being implemented in the region, with significant funds allocated from the state budget.
“All that is needed from you is discipline, order and work,” Lukashenka said. “The main thing is that we are developing our Palessie region wisely. Without disrupting the sacred harmony of nature, without spoiling the beauty of these places.”
He also called Palessie the historical homeland of the Slavs and said the festival was being held as an occasion to bring Belarusians, Ukrainians and Russians together.
“According to historians, this is indeed rooted in our history — Palessie is the ancestral homeland of the Slavs. This is where our origins lie. Here, on the steep banks of the full-flowing Prypyats, among endless oak forests and marshes, lie the roots of our great people. Therefore, when we decided to hold the festival in 2010, we believed it would become another occasion for the three fraternal peoples — Belarusians, Russians and Ukrainians — to gather together,” the Belarusian ruler said.
“And, of course, we are glad to see here, in our common historical homeland, all Slavs. All of them, without exception. And not only them. We are glad that many people come to visit us,” he added.
