The press service of Aliaksandr Lukashenka has published a message marking Norway’s Constitution Day. Traditionally, the Belarusian ruler addresses greetings to the people of a so-called “unfriendly” country rather than to its head of state. This time, however, “interstate relations” were also mentioned.

“In the not-so-distant past, interstate Belarusian-Norwegian relations made a significant contribution to improving the welfare of citizens of both countries, maintaining regional stability, and strengthening global food security,” the statement says.

Lukashenka is convinced that “today, despite artificial obstacles and temporarily disrupted customary economic ties, Belarus and Norway have great potential for resuming constructive cooperation.”

“Minsk confirms its readiness for an open dialogue with Oslo in various areas of mutual interest for the benefit of our peoples,” Lukashenka’s press service said in a conciliatory tone.

Lukashenka wished all Norwegians lasting peace, solidarity and prosperity.
