Kuchynski Meets Key Belarus Decision-Makers In Washington

Dzianis Kuchynski, diplomatic adviser to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, is on a visit to Washington.

According to Kuchynski, he is meeting with “key decision-makers on Belarus” at the White House and the State Department. Tsikhanouskaya’s adviser also expressed gratitude to the American side for the release of political prisoners.

“We hope that this American humanitarian track will continue and that all political prisoners will be released and repression against prisoners will stop,” he said, adding that the agenda of the meetings includes a broader range of issues.

Dzianis Kuchynski said he brought copies of a book by Uladzimir Arlou on Belarusian history as a gift for his hosts.

“I hope Andy (Baker — the US president’s deputy national security adviser — ed.) my good friend at the White House, will like it, because this is a history which, although the book ends with Kościuszko, our shared hero, also tells how Belarus was a strong, independent, European state. And I hope, indeed I am sure, that it will become one again,” he said.
