A new entry has appeared in the list of “extremist formations” maintained by the Interior Ministry.
The “extremist formation” designation has been applied to the “Coalition of Publishing Houses ‘Kamunikat.org Foundation’, ‘Lohvinau Publishing House’, ‘Andrei Yanushkevich Publishing’.” The decision was made by the KGB on 3 March.
In connection with the formation, the list mentions Yaraslau Ivaniuk, Dzmitry Kolas, Ihar Lohvinau, Vatslau Bahdanovich, Andrei Yanushkevich, and Alyaksandr Eudakha. The websites and social media accounts of the publishing houses have also been added to the list.
It should be recalled that in February mass detentions of book publishers and distributors took place in Minsk. Later, the publishing house Gutenberg Publisher was also declared an “extremist formation.”
Accusations of extremism are used by the Belarusian authorities to fight opponents as well as to persecute dissent in general.
