Hashish Shipment Arriving From Belarus Seized In Russia

A shipment of hashish that arrived from Belarus has been seized in Russia’s Leningrad region. The operation involved the Main Directorate for Combating Smuggling of Russia’s Federal Customs Service, together with the FSB and Belarus’s State Customs Committee, in cooperation with the Central Operational Customs of the Russian Federal Customs Service.

“During operational search measures, customs officers established that a грузовой vehicle carrying cans of paint had arrived at a non-residential premises in the Leningrad region. In six of them, customs officers discovered 150 dark brown blocks”, the Russian Federal Customs Service reported.

An examination confirmed that the substance found was hashish. The batch, weighing 14.5 kg, is valued at 43.5 million roubles.

A member of the criminal group has been identified — a 40-year-old Russian national. He was tasked with overseeing the delivery of the goods.

A criminal case has been opened in Russia on charges of large-scale drug smuggling carried out by an organised group.
