The European Union is beginning work on a 21st package of sanctions against Russia, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said.
“Prime ministers are really moving forward towards the 21st sanctions package. This sends a very clear signal to Russia that they cannot outweigh us. It also sends a clear signal to Russia that Ukraine is more important to us than it is to them, and we will continue to support it”, she said ahead of an informal summit of EU leaders in Cyprus.
The 20th sanctions package was officially approved on Thursday. It should be noted that it had been prepared several months ago, but its adoption was delayed due to Hungary’s opposition.
