The European Parliament has adopted a resolution on the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The resolution includes references to Belarus.
MEPs recall that Belarus supplies Russia with ammunition and weapons and has allowed Russia to use its territory to attack Ukraine. The resolution also notes that between 20,000 and 35,000 Ukrainian children have been forcibly deported from occupied Ukrainian territories to Russia and Belarus.
The European Parliament calls for Russia and the Belarusian regime to be held accountable for the war, war crimes, and the crime of aggression.
The resolution urges that sanctions should not be lifted until a peace agreement is concluded and sustainably implemented, and calls for sanctions to be strengthened by introducing a ban on remaining imports from Belarus and Russia.
MEPs also propose that the EU ban commercial trade with Russia and Belarus, “with a particular focus on any goods that could potentially have dual-use applications,” the resolution says.
