The Collective Security Treaty Organization is holding a strategic command-and-staff exercise from March 16 to March 19. This was announced by Vladislav Shchegrikovich, press secretary of the CSTO Joint Staff.
The strategic exercise includes practicing procedures for preparing collective decisions on the formation and deployment of all components of the collective security system’s forces and assets. It also involves preparing a set of response measures to crisis situations in the Eastern European and Central Asian regions of collective security.
“Upon the established signal, personnel of the Joint Staff and the Secretariat of the organization were alerted and assembled. Measures were carried out to deploy functional groups of the CSTO Crisis Response Center and the command posts of national authorities authorized to interact with it,” the press secretary said.
Representatives of ministries and agencies of CSTO member states are taking part in the exercise, as well as representatives of several bodies of the organization: the Permanent Council, the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly, the Anti-Terrorism Center of the CIS member states and the Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops.
