Zelenskyy’s Press Service Mentions Meeting With Tsikhanouskaya

The press service of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy included a mention of a meeting with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in its report on the Ukrainian leader’s diplomatic activity in January.

“An important meeting in the format of the Lublin Triangle — Ukraine, Lithuania, and Poland — took place in Vilnius. In Lithuania, the head of state also met with the leader of the Belarusian democratic forces, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya,” the publication says.

It should be recalled that Tsikhanouskaya and Zelenskyy met in Vilnius on the evening of January 25. The sides discussed issues of bilateral relations and the international agenda. In particular, the talks covered Belarusian volunteers defending Ukraine, sanctions policy, joint strategies with American and European partners, and holding Alyaksandr Lukashenka accountable. It was proposed to appoint a special envoy on Belarus. Zelenskyy invited Tsikhanouskaya to visit Kyiv. Later, the Ukrainian president confirmed that he is selecting a candidate for the position of envoy who will deal with relations with Belarusian democratic forces.

After the meeting, observers noted that information about it initially came primarily from the Belarusian side.
