On 24 April, Viktar Lukashenka, the eldest son of Alyaksandr Lukashenka, met not only with the UAE president during his tour of the Persian Gulf but also held a separate meeting with Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. A video of the meeting was published on the sheikh’s Instagram account.
“His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, today received Viktor Lukashenko, Special Envoy of the President of Belarus, at Qasr Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi”, the WAM agency reported.
In the statement, Viktar Lukashenka is again described as the “special envoy of the President of Belarus”.
“During the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Belarus, as well as ways to develop and strengthen it across various sectors in the interests of both countries and their peoples. A number of issues of mutual interest were also reviewed as part of efforts to expand prospects for bilateral cooperation”, the Emirati media said.
On the evening of 24 April, a business jet (registration number EW-301PJ) carrying Viktar Lukashenka departed from Abu Dhabi for Minsk.
As previously reported, Viktar Lukashenka is on a tour of Persian Gulf countries. He arrived in the UAE on 23 April and the following day met with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, delivering him a written message from Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
A day earlier, on 22 April, acting as his father’s special envoy, he also delivered a written message to the Sultan of Oman. On behalf of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Viktar Lukashenka was received by the sultan’s son, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said.
