Strong Winds Again: Orange Alert Issued For Sunday

Forecasters have issued an orange-level weather warning for Sunday, April 26.

“On April 26 (Sunday), strengthening north-western and western winds with gusts of 15–20 m/s are expected across most of the country and in Minsk, with gusts of up to 24 m/s in some areas during the day”, the statement said.

On April 25, weather conditions in Belarus will continue to be influenced by a low-pressure area, with a frontal system expected to move in from the Baltic Sea during the day. Conditions will be partly cloudy. Light precipitation (rain, with sleet possible at night and in the morning) is expected in some areas.

Winds will be westerly to south-westerly, moderate and gusty during the day. Minimum night-time temperatures will range from +1 to +7°C, with frost of 0 to -3°C expected in many areas of the Vitsyebsk region. Maximum daytime temperatures will range from +11°C in the north-east to +18°C in the south-west. Atmospheric pressure will fall.

On Sunday, the weather will be influenced by atmospheric fronts from a cyclone centred over Russia’s Novgorod region. Conditions will be partly cloudy. Precipitation (rain and sleet) is expected across most of the country. Minimum night-time temperatures will range from +1 to +8°C, with frost of 0 to -2°C expected in the north-west during clear spells. Maximum daytime temperatures will range from +2°C in the north to +10°C in the south.
