Russian Artist Shot Dead in Biała Podlaska

A 44-year-old Russian citizen was shot dead in the eastern Polish city of Biała Podlaska on the morning of June 15. As local police reported, he was killed by several gunshots on Queen Jadwiga Street.

Police also said efforts were underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrator. Security measures were introduced at kindergartens and schools in the city.

According to the Telegram channel DzikMedia, the killer was driven to the crime scene by a taxi driver from Belarus. The driver was allegedly threatened with a handgun, and the suspect then attempted to flee onto the premises of the Belarusian consulate.

A video showing the detention of a person near the consulate has appeared online. It remains unclear who exactly was detained.

According to media reports, the slain Russian national was cartoonist Semyon Skrepetsky (real name — Robert Kuzovkov). He had lived in Poland since 2021 because of threats of political persecution in Russia. One of his most recent actions was a solo picket outside the Russian embassy in Berlin. He brought a painting depicting Joseph Stalin and Vladimir Putin. In his latest post on Telegram, Skrepetsky published threats he had received.
