The Interior Ministry said it had dismantled a group suspected of organizing the illegal entry, stay and transit of foreign nationals through Belarus.
The operation was carried out by officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption together with OMON riot police.
According to the ministry, the scheme involved four men from the Middle East aged between 19 and 29 who had no registration in Belarus and were not officially employed.
“For two years, the suspects facilitated the illegal movement of people from South Asian countries from the territory of the Russian Federation into Belarus. Using private vehicles, they transported them to Minsk and, when necessary, organized crossings of the state border outside official checkpoints — through forests and across a river,” the ministry said.
The ministry claims that in May and June 2026, the suspects facilitated the illegal entry into and stay in Minsk of at least 19 Afghan nationals. They allegedly charged between $150 and $400 per trip.
Investigators have opened a criminal case, and the suspects have been placed in pre-trial detention.
