Russia Opens Terrorism Case Over Strike on Bus Carrying Belarusian Children

Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under a terrorism article in connection with a drone strike on a bus carrying a Belarusian children’s football team in Russia’s Bryansk Region.

The Investigative Committee says the passenger bus was struck by a Ukrainian drone.

According to preliminary information, the bus was carrying 44 passengers, including 28 child athletes, and was travelling to Gelendzhik. One woman was killed. Six people, including four children, were injured.

“According to the investigation, on June 17, Ukrainian armed formations carried out an attack using a strike UAV against a double-decker bus belonging to Children’s and Youth Sports School No. 2 of the city of Rechytsa on the A240 highway in Bryansk Region. The vehicle, travelling from the Republic of Belarus on the Homiel–Gelendzhik route, was carrying 44 passengers, including 28 child athletes. They were all travelling for recreation. According to preliminary information, one woman was killed and six people were injured and hospitalised. Information on the casualties is being clarified,” the Russian Investigative Committee said.
