A shipment of timber that was being transported to Belarus was detained in Russia’s Smolensk region.
On March 13, officers from Russia’s agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor and customs stopped a truck carrying 22 tonnes of profiled wooden products near the Belarusian border. The vehicle, driven by a Belarusian citizen, was travelling from Kostroma in Russia to Brest Region. The cargo did not have a phytosanitary certificate.
Laboratory tests found no harmful organisms in the sawn timber. The shipment was returned to the sender. The carrier was held administratively liable, Rosselkhoznadzor reported.
