Russia has announced a ceasefire in the direction of the city of Oleshky in connection with a humanitarian operation there. The ceasefire will take effect at 4 a.m. on October 27.

“In connection with a humanitarian operation in the Oleshky area of Kherson region, fire will cease in this direction.

The ceasefire in the Kherson direction will take effect at 04:00 Moscow time on October 27,” Russian Armed Forces Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov said.

Russia has pledged to conduct engineering reconnaissance and ensure the safe passage of a humanitarian convoy to Oleshky.

Earlier today, US First Lady Melania Trump said she had reached an agreement with Ukraine and Russia on a ceasefire in Oleshky. According to her, it is due to begin on October 29.

During the ceasefire, civilian representatives of both sides, accompanied by an “impartial American media organization,” are expected to visit Oleshky residents in their homes to find out what assistance they need. Those who wish to leave will be able to evacuate to Ukraine or Russia.
