Belarus has updated the procedure for cutting off energy supplies to organizations that fail to pay their gas, electricity and heat bills on time. Prime Minister Aliaksandr Turchyn signed the relevant Council of Ministers resolution.

According to a statement by the Belarusian government’s press service, the document, titled “On Additional Measures to Ensure Uninterrupted Energy Supplies to Consumers,” was adopted as part of efforts to improve the system for settling payments by legal entities for energy resources.

The resolution updates the rules governing the restriction or termination of natural gas, electricity and heat supplies to consumers who fail to pay on time. It also updates the regulations governing the republican commission overseeing payments for energy resources. In addition, it improves procedures for interaction between consumer organizations and energy suppliers when settling payments.

The document establishes criteria for organizations whose energy supplies may be restricted or cut off only by decision of the republican commission.
