Forecasters have extended the orange level weather alert for Thursday, May 7.
“During the day on May 6 (Wednesday), in many areas in the south of the country, maximum air temperatures will reach +30… +31°C.
On May 7 (Thursday), thunderstorms are expected at night over the north-western half of the country and during the day across most of the territory. During the day, thunderstorms may be accompanied in places by heavy downpours and squally wind gusts of 15–20 m/s.
In the south-east, maximum air temperatures will reach +30°C. In Minsk, a thunderstorm is expected, with squally wind gusts possible in parts of the city during the day”, the warning said.
Weather conditions in Belarus tomorrow will be shaped by atmospheric fronts and an unstable air mass moving in from south-western Europe. In the following days, temperatures will decline, although thunderstorms will persist.
