Political prisoner Vadzim Zdaravennau, who is already serving a sentence at the Shklou Correctional Colony, has been transferred to Detention Center No. 1 in Kaliadzichy. A new criminal case against him is expected to be heard there in the near future, and he could receive an additional prison term.
As the Viasna Human Rights Center reported, the court hearing may take place in about a month.
According to the rights defenders, Zdaravennau has been charged under several articles of the Criminal Code: Part 1 of Article 342 (organizing or actively participating in actions that grossly violate public order), Part 1 of Article 130 (incitement of racial, national, religious or other social hatred or discord), and Parts 1 and 2 of Article 363-1 (unlawful actions involving information about private life and personal data).
According to Viasna, the new case is related to comments and photographs found on his laptop.
It became known as early as February 2026 that a second criminal case had been opened against Vadzim Zdaravennau, but details of the charges had not previously been disclosed.
Vadzim Zdaravennau, from Rechytsa, is the brother of activist Ales Zdaravennau. He was detained in Minsk on April 10, 2025, several days after his brother’s arrest. He was charged under Article 368 of the Criminal Code (insulting Lukashenka). On Nov. 10, 2025, he was sentenced to two years in a general-regime penal colony for an online comment.
