OMON and GUBOP Hung on a Christmas Tree in Hrodna

In Hrodna Region, results are being summed up for a contest for the most creative Christmas tree. The competition was announced in early December by the Telegram channel of the region’s head, Yury Karayeu, titled “Pul 4,” and by the Hrodna State Forestry Production Association. It is being held for the third year in a row.

Readers are invited to vote for one of 10 finalists selected by the outlet’s editorial team. Some of the designs have a clear ideological slant. One tree is decorated with the inscription “We Are the President’s Guard” and flags of the Republican Public Association Belaya Rus. Another features photos and symbols linked to Victory Day and the patriotic project “Memory of Generations for the Sake of the Future.” Another contender for victory depicts the outline of a tree made from patches and flags, including Russian and Soviet ones, with the inscriptions “OMON,” “Typhoon,” “GUBOP,” and “We’re Working, Brother.”

Subscribers are to select five finalists. Each of them is promised a live Christmas tree as a prize. It is noted that only residents of Hrodna Region may take part, with no age restrictions.
