Lukashenka Signs Decree on Appointment and Dismissal of Judges

Alyaksandr Lukashenka on December 20 signed a decree titled “On the Appointment and Dismissal of Judges.” The document was adopted in furtherance of decisions approved at a meeting of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly.

According to the decree, Yury Kobets, who was previously dismissed by the Assembly from the post of Deputy Chair of the Supreme Court, has been appointed Chair of the Appellate Economic Court.

The document also provides for personnel changes in the leadership of several courts. Thus, Alyaksandr Lisouski has been appointed Chair of the Economic Court of Homyel Region, while the Economic Court of Hrodna Region will be headed by Eduard Karol.

In addition, a number of judges have been dismissed from their positions in connection with their election as judges of the Supreme Court.
