Ukraine Strikes Targets on Both Sides of the Crimean Bridge; Ferry Service Across Kerch Strait Suspended

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), together with other components of Ukraine’s Defence Forces, carried out strikes on Russian maritime, fuel and military facilities in Krasnodar Krai and in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.

Ukrainian drones struck infrastructure at the Port Kavkaz seaport in Krasnodar Krai. A tank farm at a petroleum transshipment complex and the territory of an oil depot are on fire there.

In Kerch, fuel storage tanks at the TES-Terminal-1 oil depot, where fuel oil, liquefied gas and refined petroleum products are handled, were hit.

In addition, Ukrainian forces disabled four radar stations belonging to S-400 air defence missile systems and two Pantsir air defence systems deployed directly on the Crimean Bridge, the SBU said.

The commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, published footage showing strikes on the Kerch Commercial Port oil depot, radar stations and other facilities in occupied territories.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that overnight long-range strikes had targeted Russian military logistics, the oil sector and air defence systems.

“All of this is a just response to Russia’s brutal strikes against our people. I thank the personnel of the SBU, the Unmanned Systems Forces, military intelligence and the Special Operations Forces for their successful work at a distance of about 300 kilometres from the front line. Targets on both sides of the Crimean Bridge were hit: maritime oil transportation logistics in the Krasnodar region and an oil depot in temporarily occupied Kerch. In addition, military logistics facilities, four radar stations belonging to S-400 systems and two Pantsir systems were successfully struck,” the Ukrainian leader said.

The Krasnodar Krai Operational Headquarters reported that the ferry Panagia was attacked at the Kerch ferry crossing in Temryuk District. According to preliminary information, one person was killed and another was injured. A fire also broke out at an oil terminal in the settlement of Chushka, where firefighting and rescue units were dispatched.

In two other locations, drone debris fell on private residential properties. In the stanitsa of Fastovetskaya in Tikhoretsk District, glazing and a wall of a summer kitchen were damaged. In the stanitsa of Uspenskaya in Beloglinsky District, part of a residential building’s roof structure was damaged. No injuries were reported.

From June 21, ferry services across the Kerch crossing have been suspended. As heavy trucks are prohibited from using the Crimean Bridge, drivers are being advised to use the alternative overland route via the R-280 highway through Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, Mariupol, Melitopol and Simferopol.

Crimeaenergo said that damage to electrical networks had caused partial power outages affecting consumers in the northwestern, central and southern coastal energy districts. To reduce strain on the power grid outside the city, a schedule of temporary electricity restrictions has been introduced in Sevastopol, the governor of the occupied city, Mikhail Razvozhayev, said.

The head of the Russian-installed administration of the peninsula, Sergey Aksyonov, said that from June 21 fuel sales at petrol stations in Crimea had been suspended for both cash and cashless payments, as well as through fuel vouchers, for individuals and legal entities.

“Fuel will be supplied only to state services that ensure the functioning and security of the Republic of Crimea,” he said.

According to his statement, four people were killed and 28 were injured as a result of the drone attack on the Kerch Peninsula.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said that overnight air defence forces intercepted and destroyed 239 Ukrainian drones over Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol and Rostov regions, Krasnodar Krai, Crimea, Adygea, and over the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
