Military Holds Combat Diver Training on the Dnieper Near Mahiliou

The Ministry of Defence is holding a combat diver training exercise on the Dnieper River near Mahiliou. Around 50 service members from military units across the country are taking part.

“Service members carry out dives day and night using both open- and closed-circuit diving equipment. Underwater, they conduct seabed reconnaissance, cut through wooden piles and metal rods, and search for, rig and recover various objects,” the Ministry of Defence’s press service said.

Particular attention is being paid to operations in extreme conditions, including limited visibility, strong underwater currents and other challenging environments.

At the end of the training exercise, each service member will undergo testing to obtain or confirm their diver qualification class.
